Steps
- Drink at least 6-8 glasses of water each day.
- Wash your face twice a day (once in the morning and once at night). Do not wash more than 2-3 times, because this will dry out and irritate your face.
- Keep your hair out of your face. If you have bangs, pull them back with a headband or clip. The oil from your hair can cause pimples on your skin.
- Put ice on your pimples for 30-60 seconds every two hours. This will reduce the redness and make your pimples less visible.Toothpaste works for some people, too. However, it
- Use a medicated cream if you have a lot of pimples, also a toner and moisturizer to make the process faster.
- Change your pillowcases at least once a week, because oil and dirt will gather on them. When you sleep, the oils and dirt will spread to your face.
- Watch to see if you have pimples on your body (such as your back). If so, buy a special body wash that will also treat pimples.
- Remove chocolate from your diet, to see if your skin clears up.
- Change your diet. Eat less fast food and milk products, and eat more vegetables and other healthy foods.
Tips
- Place a warm, moist washcloth over irritating pimples. Keep it as hot as you can stand for 5-10 minutes. Do this several times a day until the pimple disappears.
- See a natural health expert like a homeopath and ask her what she thinks you should do for your skin. You may get some drops.
- Try tea tree oil.
- Swab on a mixture of salt and lemon juice.
- If you are female, talk to your doctor about going on the birth control pill. This helps some people.
- Some people have sensitive skin. If you do, you only have to wash your face once a night with warm water.
- Do not pick or squeeze pimples. This will casue the bacteria to spread and infect the surrounding area.
- When in doubt about any treatment, consult a medical professional.
- Use non-comedogenic moisturizers and makeup.
- Avoid overmoisturizing the skin. Use the lightest-weight moisturizer necessary.
- Use a mud mask once a week to clean out pores.
- Try a medicated refining mask that cleanses and corrects problem skin.
- Wash makeup brushes and sponges frequently to minimize dirt and bacteria.
Warnings
- Don't do anything too drastic to dry out your delicate facial skin.
- Never scratch your pimple, this can result in pock-marks/scarring/infection.
- Don't touch your face as this might aid in dirt build-up that contributes to acne.
- If you choose to use accutane for cystic acne be aware of
- possible side effects and never use if pregnant.
